History
With a foundation and commitment to excellence and a history of achievement, we have been shaping southern communities for over four decades.
Founded in 1981 in Shelby, North Carolina, Boomerang Design began as a sole proprietorship focused on architecture and design. The team grew steadily into MBAJ Architecture, an acronym representing the four partners of the firm at the time. In 2014, we rebranded, changing the firm’s name to Boomerang Design to reflect the company’s forward-thinking, client-centric approach.
Today, we are a vibrant, employee-owned, and SBA-certified women-owned small business (WOSB) with nearly 30 professionals across four offices in the Carolinas. Under the guidance of President Angela Crawford Easterday and the firm’s principals, our team showcases architectural excellence while maintaining a strong commitment to the communities they serve. Our team has had the opportunity to work with most counties across the Carolinas, as well as in numerous locations in Virginia, West Virginia, Georgia, and Texas.
Now in our third generation of leadership and with our recent transition to a certified WOSB, this reflects a strategic investment in the future: aligning our leadership, values, and vision to support continued growth for the next generation.
